                                        THE PROCRASTINATOR'S WAY

Procrastination meaning: the habit of delaying an important task, usually by focusing on less urgent, more enjoyable, and easier activities instead. It is different from laziness, which is the unwillingness to act.


My entire life, this habit of procrastination led me where I am now, literally out of nowhere. But one thing I am sure of, that I AM NOT ALONE.


Despite it being a bad habit, it is very difficult to come out of. There is a lot of advice like how to avoid procrastination!!!! BUT “avoid procrastination” is good advice for a fake procrastinator. Who don't even procrastinate.


Sad to say, the thing neither google nor fake procrastinator understand is that procrastination is a natural phenomenon to the procrastinator. It's something they don’t know how to not do, it's in their instinct.


In my 7 years of college life this procrastination was like a natural disaster. There was no cure of it, remind you there is no cure even now. What an irony. Assignment was done in the previous class to submit it next class to not miss the deadline. Let's not talk about the homework, let me explain the magic of time management before exam. Let's say I have 6 chapters of physics for the exam syllabus and have 2 days of time. First routine 3 chapters per day, but unfortunately the first day was for basketball and resting my mind to optimal state. so, plan B,6 chapters =3 in the morning ,3 in prep time. But in the morning, I got hold of reader's digest, so I only left with prep and the time before exam. No Problem 1 hour per chapter. But karma came knocking my door, then 6 chapter in 4 hours, later how to pass the exam, solution= only formula.


That was an overview of the college exam. Now this blog I am writing before midnight as a result of procrastination. All sorts of cats and dogs, novels, manga, motivation, new things here and there of YouTube came to me with the allure of intellectual pleasure. What a vicious cycle. I got the inspiration for the topic THE PROCRASTINATOR'S WAY from TIM URBANs blog and TED TALK from procrastinating. Not so bad, huh!


So, what differs us from non-procrastinator. We all humans have similar physiological needs and biological structure but in our brain program.


IN both non-procrastinator and procrastinator brains there is a rational decision maker (cognitive thinking) but a procrastinator has the king who always thinks of less stressful more fun things.


To the king eating, sleeping and driving the mind how it likes is a good king. As king likes to rule the way it like. But unfortunately, we live in society, we have to do more than just eating, drinking and enjoying.


Below, the first diagram shows the brain mechanism of a master procrastinator in normal time. Them the second diagram shows the mechanism of non-procrastinators' brains.





Here we can vividly see that in a procrastinator's brain extra the cause and self-defense mechanism is present aka the king and the slumbering guardian.


In non-procrastinators' brains the rational decision maker controls everything there is no existence of other occupants. What a friendly environment to work.


So, a non-procrastinator works in a way that he/she benefits for a long time in the near future.

A safe, reliable journey of life.




Now comes the question of how procrastinators do their job in time if the king lives a kingly life and rational decision maker just can't disobey the king. The answer is the guardian monster who always sleeps only appears when the kingdom is in identity crisis or other disasters, like deadline approaches near door. Therefore, when the guardian monster woke up the king restrain itself so the rational decision maker can navigate and do the job like there is no tomorrow to save the day.

But if there is a deadline then the guardian monster wakes up, this is in case for the lucky procrastinators. So, what if there is no deadline !!! Then the apocalypse approaches the kingdom as the guardian monster remains in deep slumber and king’s comfort becomes law.

That's why physical training, early rising, healthy diet, gym and self-development become the dreams of many.



  We all are procrastinators, some short term with deadlines, some long term, some both. For long term that is the sign of disaster. As for both doomsday is very very near to them. As for the last category the only hope is during procrastination any motivational  video that sparks the light in darkness in their lives or any external stimulus to save them.


Remember,a master procrastinator dances on the line of deadline,they touch the end time but never cross it.Always believe in guardian monster .


By now if you think you are a procrastinator, fear not YOU ARE NOT ALONE and future is boundless with infinite possibilities.Like our previous generation who procrastinated but leaved their mark in the history,we will do something fast and precise so that the impact of procrastination can be avoided.
