Koenigsegg: The "Ghost Squadon" makers of automobile

Koenigsegg Automotive AB is a Swedish manufacturer of high-end performance cars based in Ängelholm, Sweden.

History
The company was founded in 1994 by Christian von Koenigsegg with the motto of building high-performance cars also known as hyper-cars. Initially, Koenigsegg automotive was based in Olofstrom, In 1997, the company needed more extensive production facilities and moved to a farm just outside Angelholm. On 22 February 2003, one of the production facilities caught fire and was badly damaged. Koenigsegg then acquired an abandoned airfield to use as his new factory building and in late 2003, one of the two large fighter-jet hangars and an office building were converted into a car factory.

The reason behind the name
Christian von Koenigsegg stated that the squadron was the oldest aircraft squadron in Sweden up until the point it was disbanded. The squadron would take off on their missions at dusk and land after dark in the early days, and this is when they first became known as the Ghost Squadron as residents nearby would only ever hear the aircraft, and not see them. The motto of the ghost symbol is 'The show must go on'. Also, their cars have proven that motto since their first-ever production car 'CC8S'.

Reasons behind their fame.
Their very famous twin-turbocharged V8 engine and the artistic looks along with low production numbers is the reason behind their fame. Also, their cars have removable hard tops as well.

Unique cars and specs.

Ever since their first car CC8S, Christian Von Koenigsegg has made it clear that they want to make cars that are fast, esthetic looking, and safe at the same time. CC8S came with a 4.6 litre DOHC V8 engine that bled out 655 hp and 750 N.m of torque. It also had a top speed of 240 mph. The engine gained the record for the most powerful production car engine in 2002.

During  2004-06 they evaluated the CC8S to CCR. It was equipped with a larger brake system, wheels and tires, a front splitter, and a rear wing, as well as an upgraded suspension and chassis. The twin-supercharged engine inside the CCR was also more powerful, generating up to 806 hp. This broke the record for the most powerful production car in 2004 and in 2005 it gained the crown of fastest production car ever having a speed of 241 mph in straightline. In 2006 they started delivery of CCR.

The CCR

2007 was the year when they introduced CCXR world’s first “green” supercar. Koenigsegg’s revolutionary twin-supercharged V8 engine was fitted with a flex-fuel sensor and hardware that allowed it to run on different types of fuel, including regular gas.

Till 2009 they kept developing the CCX series and kept setting new boundaries. What they also did is they kept the production number down to 48 cars only. So that their cars will be in demand for a long time. Their plan succeeded as the CCX goes for an average of 1.2 million USD now.

The Swedish word for “to take action” is “Agera.” The Koenigsegg Agera embodied that meaning with a twin-turbocharged engine that was capable of 960 hp and over 1,100 Nm of torque. The brand’s new “ghost” lighting system highlighted key points of the interior, while the new VGR wheels and exhaust system enhanced handling and practically eliminated turbo-lag. The Agera was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2010, taking the brand in a bold new direction.
In 2012 they brought out the AGERA S which was the first car to have over 1000 horsepower.
It was capable of up to 1,040 hp, with regular 95 octanes.

The REGERA first-ever plug-in hybrid from Koenigsegg was launched in 2015. It came with a typical twin-turbo V8 but this time the engine has support from 3 electric motors which are super lite. Together they gave an output of 1500 horsepower. This monster can also be driven on all electric mood up to 35 km. Only 80 Regeras were made and all were sold before it was even launched.

More about Koenigsegg, they made the first car claimed to hit 300+ mph. The JESKO ABSOLUT will be the fastest car ever from this manufacturer confirmed by the CEO and chief engineer Christian himself. It has a gearbox that can shift from the lowest gear to the highest one with a single clutch drop. It is named after Christian father Jesko Von Koenigsegg. This special car will come with a price tag of 3.3 million USD.

The Jesko

Ending.

In the era of EVs Christian is a name of craze among petrol heads and speed lovers. He is also an inspiration for everyone as an entrepreneur from where he started and where he is now. The name of the company needs no praise or introduction in the car community. Koenigsegg really kept its promise with the ghost logo and its motto behind it. They truly make every single car like the GHOST SQUADRON.
